When America Wanted Pizzazz, Bel Air Was There By 1954 America had shaken off the aftermath of WWII and the Depression. Times were better and there was now time to enjoy the better things of life. No car combined this down-to-earth reliability and modern excitement like the Bel Air convertible.

This top-of-the-line Chevrolet, still priced about $2000, was offered in over 50 color combinations. Aerodynamic fender skirts were standard as well as the all vinyl 2-tone interior with full carpeting. A new type of sheet metal made these Body by Fisher beauties look even more like “junior Caddys”. No wonder General Motors selected a Bel Air convertible to be the 30 millionth Chevy ever built.
