"Ask the Man Who Owns One" You didn't have to just ask the Packard owner, (this was Packard's slogan for years) but any typical American of the early 30's would tell you that the most prestigous car on the road was the Packard. Designed by styling genius Ray Dietrich in 1930, Packard had over half of the presitge car business in the U.S. The Town Car was the top of the line classic, featuring a body by LeBaron; 320 horespower straight-8 engine, wire wheels, double spare tires, removable chauffeurs top and mahoganey dash. For the time period, it carried an enormous price tag of $5,350.00 Expensive then, but now recognized as a true classic, one in good condition would sell for almost $300,000.00
