1948 Ford Super Deluxe Convertible
G.I. Joe In a Buying Mood 1948 started out with many question marks for the Ford Motor Company. Eight months earlier, its founder and inspiration, Henry Ford, had passed away. The combination of the Great Depression in the ‘30’s and WWII in the 40’s, had made Ford’s financial situation shaky. Add these to a 1948 product line that had very few changes from the previous year as Ford had put all their efforts into the completely restyled 1949 line, and you can imagine how worried the auto executives were during this time. But the US economy and consumers came to Ford’s rescue. The Post-War boom had begun and the demand for cars was greater than ever. By mid-year, Ford had topped their 1947 production and actually switched to producing the new 1949 line.
