In 1964 Terry Labonte began his career in Texas by racing quarter midgets. In 1978 Labonte and car owner Billy Hagan worked out a deal to run his first Winston Cup race in the Southern 500 at Darlington where qualified 19th and finished fourth. Labonte accomplished his first Winston Cup title in 1984 for car owner Billy Hagan while winning only two races that season with twenty-four top-ten finishes in thirty races. He also managed a win at the Bush Clash in 1985 and a win in 1989 at the International Race Of Champions series. Terry Labonte has driven since 1994 for Rick Hendrick and only winning two races plus twenty-one top-five finishes in thirty-one events and winning a Winston Cup Championship in 1996 for Hendrick. In 1999 Terry Labonte was achieved another victory by winning The Winston All-star race. In 745 Winston Cup starts has earned Terry Labonte $29 million dollars. In 2002 Terry had a horrible year by going winless in three consecutive seasons and only managed four top-ten finishes and finished twenty-third in the overall standings. Terry Labonte finished in third place in Sonoma to make that his best finish. In 1998 Terry Labonte and brother Bobby started in the front at the Daytona 500, which was the first time two brothers started in the front row in the Daytona 500. Terry and Bobby are the only brothers ever to win the Winston Cup championship.
