Made the Zero Into NothingGrumman Hellcat F6F-3I Love This Aircraft So Much, If It Could Cook I Would Marry It
The above is a quote from Navy Ace Eugene Valencia who scored 23 kills with a Hellcat. The Japanese Zero had terrorized the Allies until 1943 when the first Grumman Hellcat F6F-3's arrived in the Pacific. This large carrier aircraft came armed with 6 12.7 mm machine guns, 2 500lb. bombs and 6 rockets but most importantly had a top speed of 70mph more than the Zero. Powered by a Pratt and Whitney 2000hp radial engine, this King of the Predators had a 19-to-1 victory ratio over the Zero.
