The Most Famous Inter-City CoachGreyhound® Flxible ClipperA Truly Flexible Company
The Flxible Company was started in 1912 by Hugo Young building sidecars with flexible connections to the motorcycle. By the mid-1920s, they had branched out to hearses, ambulances and buses. The 29-passenger Clipper, powered by a modified straight-8 Buick engine, was developed for inter-city use. At one time over 5,000 Clippers were in operation including 20 delivered to the Pennsylvania Greyhound Company for use in Cleveland and Pitt burgh. These used aluminum side strips to give them a sporty look like the famous Greyhound Silversides.
