Beefed-Up Bird
1963 Ford Falcon Futura
Flying Out of the Economy Class
The Falcon originated in 1960 as Fords first true compact, economy car. As part of a major restyling effort for 1963, Fords engineers and designers created the Falcon Futura. To its new sculpted body and squared up roof, a 170 cubic inch 101 horsepower 6-cylinder engine was added, moving the Futura right out of the economy class and into the area of performance cars. Priced at a very affordable $2319, 10,972 were produced helping Ford to its best year in its 60 year history. Both sales and profits reached all-time highs.
