1960 Mack C Rescue Truck
The Perfect Rescue Truck
The West Hempstead Fire Department has been a leader in fire equipment for decades. In 1960 they purchased a C.O.E. Mack C Rescue Truck with a body by Gerstlanger. With its all-steel cab, Mack Thermodyne 540 cubic inch engine, and all the lights and sirens you could want, it was soon the envy of all Nassau County fire departments. This precision die-cast replica is an exact duplicate of the one that served and protected the people of West Hempstead, N.Y. almost 50 years ago.
