Car-of-the-Future Styling
1957 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupe
Dagmars Lead the Way
In the mid-1950's one of the first late-night TV stars was a statuesque busty blond named Dagmar. Part of Cadillac's Car-of-the-Future styling was rubber-tipped bumper guards which, for obvious reasons, became known as Dagmars. Other more important changes included the tubular x-frame chassis, which gave greater structural rigidity and a lower body line, hooded headlights and circular parking lights.
Beginning of the Fins
1957 started Cadillac's 3 year love affair with rear fins that culminated in 1959. The Series 62 Convertible Coupe cost $5225 and 9,000 were made. Standard equipment included Hydra-Matic drive and power steering, brakes, windows and seats. Nothing pointed to success in 1957 more than driving one of these 300 horsepower Cadillacs.
