G.M. felt especially good about its Oldsmobile division as it had its best sales year to date. Sales of 583,179 set a record not to be surpassed for a decade. In fitting with a good-time era, Oldsmobile introduced Flying Colors-bright 2-tone color schemes. The Super 88 Holiday Coupe was basically the “88” series Holiday Coupe with the “98” series 202 horsepower V-8 engine. Holiday was Oldsmobile's shorthand for hardtop.
