Flying Colors Lead the Way
1955 Oldsmobile Super 88 Holiday Coupe
Oldsmobile's Best Year to Date
1955 was a good year for America. The Korean War was over and the economy was flying. G.M. felt especially good about its Oldsmobile division as it had its best sales year to date. Sales of 583,179 set a record not to be surpassed for a decade. In fitting with a good-time era, Oldsmobile introduced Flying Colors-bright 2-tone color schemes. The Super 88 Holiday Coupe was basically the 88 series Holiday Coupe with the 98 series 202 horsepower V-8 engine. Holiday was Oldsmobile's shorthand for hardtop. This 2-door coupe sold for $2714 and 62,534 were produced. It may have been your father's Oldsmobile, but even today it looks sporty and fresh.
