The 30 Millionth Chevrolet
1954 Bel Air Convertible
Last Great Blue Flame
The 30 millionth Chevrolet produced was a '54 Bel Air convertible. Chevy's only convertible for 1954, 19383 were sold for $2185 (our replica adds the $27 whitewalls). With the complete restyling in 1953, the 1954 models only changed the grille, parking and tail lights. Looking back, the most memorable thing about the '54 Bel Airs, besides the great look offered in a mind-boggling 63 color combinations, was that this was the last year before the introduction of the small-block V-8. Although 6-cylinders remained available, the Blue Flame was pretty much extinguished after 1954.
