1953 International Pumper, North Babylon V.F.D. The Custom Fire Truck The relatively light International fire engines were faster and more agile than most fire trucks of that era. There were seven different chassis available, as well as eight different engines. Pumping capacities reached 1,250 gallons-per-minute on some models, and additional features included electronically-operated hose reels, directional lights, air brakes, five-speed transmission, and two-way radio.
