Americas Most Popular Convertible
1950 Ford® Custom Deluxe Convertible
50 Ways Better
Fords major ad campaign in 1950 stressed 50 ways the car was improved over 1949. But after major restyling for the previous year, almost all of these improvements were inside the car, such as better brakes, push-button door latches and a tighter and better sealed body. Sales were up slightly from 1949 as the industry, benefiting from consumer concerns about shortages with Korea on the horizon, set a new sales record. The Ford brand was #2 to
Chevrolet but the total Ford Motor Company had 24% market share, its best in almost 20 years. One area Ford was unquestionably superior was the convertible. They sold over 50,000 Custom Deluxe Convertibles at $1948 ($1 less than 1949), 20,000 more than Chevrolet, the nearest competitor.
Precision Engineered from Manufacturers Specifications
