America's Longest Continually Used Model
1948 Chrysler® New Yorker Convertible Coupe
Last Year of Pre-War Styling
The New Yorker was a Chrysler nameplate from 1938 to 1996, making it the longest continuous model name in U.S. history. Like the rest of America's automakers, for Chrysler the first few years after WWII featured mainly pre-war styling and engineering. The 1948 New Yorker was no exception as it had little change from the previous years. But with its egg-crate grill, wide white walls and smooth body lines there was little to complain about. 3000 of these Convertible Coupes were sold for $2840 each.
