1941 Chevrolet Pickup Marines Recruiting Truck
Patriotic Fever Hits America
The numbing shock felt after the Japanese sneak attack on Pearly Harbor soon changed to a nationalistic fervor as America plunged into the reality of WWII. Today we can look back with nostalgia at the patriotic posters used to aid recruiting for the armed forces. Each 1941 Chevy Recruiting Truck comes not only with a two-sided billboard that its perfectly into the pickup bed, but also a beautiful collectors card featuring the recruiting poster on one side.
Like all American automotive companies, Chevrolet was willing and able to do whatever was necessary to help the war effort. The 1941 Light Delivery Pickups featured Chevrolet designers effort to make the front more massive looking, mainly with the 2-part 17-tooth grille. Horsepower for the 6-cylinder engine was increased from 78 to 90. And like all military vehicles, all bright work and chrome have been painted over to reduce visibility from enemy aircraft. With their official military logos and insignias, these 1941 Chevrolet Recruiting Trucks are exact replicas of those that traveled up and down the streets of America during WWII.
