The First Peterbilt Truck 1939 Peterbilt S-100 Pumper Not What He Had in Mind When Al Peterman, a Washington lumber magnate, saved Fageol Trucking from bankruptcy in 1938 his goal was to develop a chain-driven logging truck. After two failed attempts to do this, he broadened his horizons and the Peterbilt Trucking Company was born. The very first sale they had, truck S-100, was a chassis sold to the O.M.
