Not only did the U.S. Armed Forces have to insure the Presidents safety but his favorite car also. Nicknamed the Sunshine Special” because of the Presidents love for open-car touring, it traveled to Summit meetings in Yalta, Teheran, Casablanca and Malta. Originally a basic 1939 Lincoln Limousine brought up to government specifications by Brunn, it was armored and given a restyled front end in 1942 bringing its weight up to a massive 9300 pounds. Now equipped with bullet-proof tires, armor-plated doors, two-way radio and siren, the Sunshine Special served both Roosevelt and his successor, President Harry Truman, until 1948.
