Keeping Up with Cadillac 1937 Lincoln V-12 Engine Rivals Answer to Cadillacs V-16 Even though Cadillac lost money on every V-16 car they made and demand for them was low, their rivals like Lincoln and Pierce Arrow had to come up with something competitive. Both decided on massive V-12 engines that were more economical and efficient than Cadillacs V-16 but powerful enough for heir heavy luxury cars. Lincoln made two versions of their V-12, a smaller one for the lower priced Zephyr and this version for their larger cars. At 414 cubic inches it produced 150 horsepower and featured a Stromberg 2-barrel carburetor.
