1936 Ford Deluxe Cabriolet
Depression Begins to Lift
1936 was Ford's best sales year since 1930. They retained the #1 sales position over Chevrolet with production of almost 1 million vehicles. After the major restyling of 1935, not much was new for 1936-the front end was restyled and the rear fenders were new. The biggest change was in the wheels. Gone were the expensive and outdated wire wheels, replaced by steel artillery wheels. Under the hood, the 85hp. V-8 was unchanged.
A Modern Convertible
While there was nothing modern for the passengers in the rumble seat, the 1936 Ford Deluxe Cabriolet had comfort features not available in roadsters and phaetons. The windows were roll up and the top was snug. This was a real year-round car. 14,068 Deluxe Cabriolets were produced for $625 each, all with bodies by Murray. Our 1:18 scale precision die-cast replica looks just as good as they did rolling off the Ford assembly line over 70 years ago.
