Fastest and Most Expensive Car of its Time
1935 Duesenberg SSJ
Only for the Biggest Stars in Hollywood
By 1935 Duesenbergs reputation for big, fast, beautiful and expensive cars was already well established. Its a Duesy was the catchphrase for anything extraordinary. The Model J, developed in 1928 has been called the single best American car ever made. Ab Jenkins broke the world record with a supercharged SSJ in 1935 at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Only two of these Roadsters were ever made (at a cost of $9500 just for the chassis no wonder)-one for Clark Gable and the other for Gary Cooper.
