Although the public was curious (over 25 million people visited Ford showrooms just to see the new style), sales in 1928 were still poor, hampered by production problems. With very little restyling (convertibles now had outside door handles), 1929 became Fords last dominant year. Sales double to over 1.5 million as Ford wrestled the #1 position from Chevrolet and had a 32% market share, bringing smiles to everyone in Dearborn, from President Edsel Ford on down. From the outside door handles to the 4-cylinder 40 horsepower engine and outside luggage compartment, the Cabriolet looks just like the ones that cruised Americas roads 75 years ago.
