Alfred C. Mecklenburg had a fascination with water pumps and gasoline engines. In 1912 he started up the South Bend Motor Car Works and built fire apparatus. Then, in 1919, he went to Indianapolis where he and Harry C. Stutz founded the Stutz Fire Engine Company. This 1924 Stutz Model C is a 750 gpm pumper that features a 6-cylinder Wisconsin engine that generates 140 horsepower!
