From the Exclusive UPS Employee Collection 1913 Ford Model T UPS Package Car “Old No. 1” The Start of the Fleet UPS started as a local delivery service in Seattle in 1907 using foot and bicycle deliveries. In 1913 they purchased their first delivery truck, a Ford Model T. Now they could consolidate packages for a neighborhood and the modern delivery service was born. Using a Ford chassis for the package car was an easy decision as Ford dominated that field with 8,438 chassis built as the first year of the moving assembly line cut production time down from 12 to 1 1/2 hours.
